Terry Irwin
Terry Irwin is a design consultant and educator working with design firms, businesses and design schools throughout the country. In 1992, Terry co-founded the San Francisco office of MetaDesign, an internationally recognized design firm with offices in San Francisco, Zurich, Berlin and London. From 1992 to 2002 Terry served as Meta‘s Principal and Creative Director where she directed multidisciplinary teams on a wide variety of projects for clients such as: Apple Computer, Sony, Nike, Ernst & Young, The Getty Museum and Wells Fargo Bank.
Michael McPherson
Michael McPherson is a partner and creative director of Corey McPherson Nash in Boston. Michael's work has received numerous national and international awards. He is a frequent contributor to design and marketing publications, has served as a juror for several distinguished design competitions, and has presented at CASE, University and College Designers Association, the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and the Design Management Institute (DMI). He is on the Advisory Council of the DMI and the Advisory Board of AIGA Boston and teaches part-time at the Rhode Island School of Design. Michael is the recipient of the 2001 Fellows Award from AIGA Boston.
Douglass Scott
Douglass Scott is Design Director at WGBH television and radio in Boston. He is also consulting Art Director of Davis Publications, an art education publisher in Worcester, Massachusetts. In addition to his WGBH work, he has designed books, identity programs, exhibitions, and publications for many clients.
Scott teaches graphic design, exhibition design, typography, and graphic design history at the Rhode Island School of Design (since 1980) and teaches graphic design and design history at the Yale University School of Art (since 1984). He has also taught at the Boston Architectural Center, Harvard University, and Maine College of Art. Since 1989, Scott has been actively constructing and exhibiting paper collages and sculptures.
Since 1978, Scott has given over 150 lectures on the history of design and printing at various colleges, universities and symposia, and has been curator of many design exhibitions.
Ilene Strizver
Ilene Strizver, founder of The Type Studio, is a typographic consultant, designer, writer and educator specializing in all aspect of visual communication, from the aesthetic to the technical. Her clients included International Typeface Corporation (ITC), Agfa Monotype Typography (AMT), Adobe, Galápagos Design Group, Johnson & Johnson and bethere.com.
Ilene formerly was the Director of Typeface Development for International Typeface Corporation (ITC) where she developed more than 300 text and display typefaces with such respected and world-renowned type designers as Sumner Stone, Erik Spiekermann, Jill Bell, Jim Parkinson, Tim Donaldson, and the late Phill Grimshaw. She “cut her typographic teeth” by working on Upper and Lowercase (U&lc) and other type projects with such legendary icons as Ed Benguiat, Aaron Burns and Herb Lubalin.
Ilene is a member of the NY Type Directors Club and the New York Art Directors Club, and has won awards from them both for type and design. She has lectured extensively on type and typeface production to both students and professionals in the field. In addition to running her studio, she finds time to teach a course entitled Gourmet Typography at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Her recent book, Type Rules! The designer’s guide to professional typography, has received numerous accolades from the type and design community.
David Wolfe
David Wolfe has been a letterpress printer and fine art printmaker for over twenty years. A certified Master Printer and formerly with the Stinehour Press in Vermont, he is now proprietor of Wolfe Editions in Portland, Maine. He has taught letterpress at Dartmouth College and printmaking and book arts at Maine College of Art, Bowdoin College, Wellesley College and many others.
